J.M. Institute of Speech & Hearing is a well recognized institute at the national level and has received national award under the category of best institution in 2004 from Govt. of India.
It was also designated as Nodal Centre of Rehabilitation Council of India for Eastern Zone comprising of Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand. Rehabilitation Council of India is the statutory body of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for manpower development in the area of disability management and rehabilitation.
It was also Nodal Centre for National Trust for the welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities, Govt. of India.

- Affiliated to BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur for conducting degree level courses in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
- Study Centre of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, Bangalore University, Indira Gandhi National Open University, National Institute of Open Schooling.
- Produced first Hearing Impaired doctor and dental surgeon in world.
- Accredited to National Institute of Open Schooling, Govt. of India for Secondary level examination & Vocational training for Hearing Impaired and developmentally disabled children.
- Shilpi Jaiswal a hearing impaired girl of this institute became first Asian to win British Open Tennis Championship & received national award from President of India in role model category.
- Founder President Dr. Manoj Kumar appointed as Chief Commissioner for Persons with disabilities, Govt. of India in September 2005.
- Hundred of children with hearing impairment, mental retardation & developmental disability of this institute have achieved dignified milestones in their carrier and are engaged in gainful & dignified occupation.
