Early Intervention Unit
The institute is running an early intervention unit for the children with special needs. Near about 96 cases below the age of 5 years are enrolled in the early intervention unit of the institute and they are getting regular stimulation in the unit as per their needs. Special training is given to the parents of these children to involve in the process of rehabilitation. The objective of this unit is to prepare these children for their inclusion into the mainstream of education through utilizing critical period for development during the childhood and to make them self-independent. Various experts are engaged in the unit to provide sufficient stimulation to these children with special needs through the intervention of multidisciplinary team of professionals during the early childhood development.
This unit of the institute is giving specific environmental stimulation to promote normal development, the unit is well equipped with colourful toys, teaching learning materials, audio-visual aids, specific TLM for sense training, attractive books, specific TLM for skill development and other assertive devices are also available in the unit. The unit is fitted with loop induction system to help children with hearing impairment. The strategy of the teaching these children in this unit is to develop a common target for the different group and then develop individual plans for the different children as per their specific needs.
The unit has the facilities to provide services to the children with special needs specially children with mental retardation, hearing impairment, autism, cerebral palsy, delayed speech and language development and other development disorder.
